Smooth Cheeks

Oh! What have we started? About a month ago, Brian pretended to shave Sam's "whiskers" with the back of his electric razor. Sam loved it. Now when he hears Brian's razor, he speed-crawls to the bathroom to watch, waiting not-so-patiently for his turn. We started pretending to put aftershave on him, too, by shaking the closed bottle and then patting his cheeks. Now, every night after his bath, he points to the razor, whines, and then pats his face. Actually, he does that several times throughout the day, including every time we walk past the bathroom. What can I say? The kid loves to shave. His cheeks are as smooth as a baby's bottom!

Big Boy Bath

Sam's graduated. He now gets to take Big Boy Baths.  Brian did a great job fixing the tub in the hall bath (the hot water hadn't worked since we moved in) and just in time, too, because Sam was about to bust out of his blue baby bathtub, seen here (so tiny!).

He had so much fun playing with all the new bath toys he got for Christmas.  He stayed in for over an hour - I think he used every inch of that tub.  I snapped some pictures while Sam played, and got one pic of the consequences of staying in the tub for a long time. Enjoy

Splish Splash - A Little Bird Bath

Bathtime is one of the best parts of the day. If Sam's sleepy or grumpy before his bath, he usually perks up once he hits the water. It's easy to get him to talk and laugh if he's soaking in the tub. As a newborn, he would scream after his bath while I was trying to get him dressed; it was so stressful. But now he loves after-bath time just as much as the bath itself. We do lotion, diaper and jammies and he really comes alive! He bangs his legs up and down on the changing table and squwaks and squeals.

I almost always do bath before bed because it's part of our nighttime routine. But on the day these photos were taken, I had given him a bath in the morning and the light in his room was so good, I decided to get some shots of him in his little-man bathrobe which is on loan from a friend. The video was shot a couple of nights before. Of course, he doesn't talk much in it - he sees that camera and clams up!

Enjoy little Samuel, squeaky clean!
