Fun at the Splash Pad
One last visit to the Fairview splash pad for the summer (2016). Someone's looking cool in her shades!

The kids and I visited the Perot Museum with Gram. It's such an impressive building. One of the first things you do is take the escalator to the dinosaur floor, which gave us some awesome views of downtown!
The dinosaurs were amazing. Photos don't do them justice - to see how enormous they were in person was incredible.
The crystals, gems and minerals were mesmerizing. The exhibit is very dark and cool...and sparkly! We couldn't believe the colors they produced.
Sam and I walked through the different habitats of Texas. There were things to see, hear, and even smell!
Evie was in heaven when we got to the children's area. She did water play, art, and imaginative play at the campsite and the farmer's market.
We played in the fountains outside by the Leap Frog Forest, and when that ended in fighting and crying, we headed to the car, stopping for just a second to play the outdoor instruments.
It was an awesome, exhausting day at the Perot Museum. So glad we got to go and definitely want to visit again next summer.
Sam loves to climb this tree when we go to downtown Denton. It's the only climbable tree around, and right on the courthouse lawn. He comes down sticky from the sap, but he loves it. And we all love family time in downtown Denton.
Oh my goodness, what a fun day we had with Gram at the Children's Aquarium! It was the perfect size - plenty to do and see, but not so big they got tired and overwhelmed - and it was very hands-on. We got to touch some creatures in a tidal-pool exhibit, wrap ourselves in a recreation of octopus tentacles, and try on some shark jaws! But the best part of all was petting the stingrays. They were so soft and slippery. It was very exciting!
More bathing babies, this time at home. Babies are a lot of work!
After Baby's bath it was time for her to eat. Evie doesn't have a dolly highchair at Gram's house, so she decided to make one using Sam's baby rocker and a plastic tray. We fed her using my old baby dolls' dishes and bottles. She asked me if this is how you hold a baby. I told her she did it perfectly!
Gram set up a Maker's Space for Sam in their bonus room upstairs. She's got all sorts of boxes and plastic stuff. She's always encouraging Sam to go up there and create when we come to visit.
Here, he's created a drum set. He got Pops to play keyboard and guitar and they put on a show for us. It was...interesting.
Gram got Evie a special baby doll just for playing with when we go to their house. She's a squishy baby, and all-plastic so you can give her a bath and everything! Evie loves to give her baby dolls baths, as if you couldn't tell from the smile on her face in these images. This baby got the royal treatment: shampoo, body wash, a bath poof, bath toys...even Uncle Andrew's bath book from when he was a baby. Gram swaddled the baby up in a towel to dry, then Evie put her in the playroom crib to rest. Then, when Evie wasn't looking, I popped the baby's head off to drain out all the water. Sorry baby doll!
Didn't get a picture of Sam here this summer, but I got this one of Evie and she matched the wall perfectly!
I love this funny girl! She looks a lot older than last year...
